Many people suspect the government withdraws from its duty to protect the heritage and using Big society as a smokescreen to hide the damage. Some of us who have long complained about their policy on metal detection and artifact hunting might be tempted to say:
"See, this is how it feels when you know very well that they can net irreversible damage while telling the public is obviously all well and good - indeed positively beneficial!"
adequate explanations were never coming, but now we're all in big company maybe we are all entitled to ask big questions in the hope they will respond. So starting today we intend to place a series of direct questions and polished on the appropriate page on the Portable Antiquities Scheme website and publish them here on the Journal and the responses we get....
