I plan to go to Alaska next year around September or October. I want to see the Northern Lights. I have read that the winter months are better for that but I don't want to die a frozen death. I am from Texas. I plan to stay in Fairbanks. Hopefully about a 4 day vacation.
Any tips, pointers,
I lived an hour north of Fairbanks for a year (USAF) and October will be quite cold. The Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis) occurs in December through February. It can occur at other times but the dead of Winter is the best.

I haven't spent the Winter in Alaska, but I drove up in the snow last year. We left Florida in early April, arrived in Alaska in mid May and believe it or not, we drove through a snow storm.
If, Talkeetna, is open through the Winter this
