(Dover, Delaware)
We've been to several museums of the police on our travels and the Delaware State Police Museum did not disappoint. We were treated to the usual displays of uniforms, displays a handgun, and continuously operating multi-media presentations on the history of the Police State of Delaware. There was also a large display of police vehicles (cars and motorcycles) which replaced the traditional police mounted.
In the back was probably the largest collection of lights and police sirens in existence. I tried to read the labels carefully describing the shape, the years used, power, main reasons for stopping use, etc.but it all started to run together in a large mass of shiny silver with red lights. I think I was actually hypnotized at any time.
The best part of the museum was a "You're the detective" scene. A small screen represented a house that had been the scene of a heinous crime in the history of Delaware. There was also plenty of notes to read ( but we have tried to be "Cliffs Notes Detectives" instead). The crown jewel was a large model of the room where the murder took place with the contour of the body, blood stains and splashes, and other "cues" that we were supposed to use to solve the crime. However, as with many attractions that we come across, some signs appeared to be lacking, there were blisters on the presentation and even some missing multimedia, so that the killer may still be at large....
